Tips for Tapping into Your Inner Wisdom

Life is an amazing journey, but it is also filled with its share of bumps in the road. No matter what type of person you are, or what you believe about the nature of reality, you likely want to live a happy, fulfilled life. There is no one path to reaching this goal, and if you are having trouble finding the right one for you, know that the answers lie within, not anywhere on the outside. The wisdom is there, even if it does not seem like it right now. I learned to find that inner wisdom, and because of it, I am living an authentic life true to my values and desires. This knowledge is available to everyone, and here are some ways for you to tap in and find the answers that have always been there, just waiting to be discovered.

Meditation

We have so much running through our heads at all times, it can sometimes feel like we are drowning in our own thoughts. All of this mental noise puts up a formidable barrier to our inner wisdom. We never really are thinking deliberately, just reacting to everything around us and being held hostage by anxieties, fear and our inner critic. Meditation helps calm our monkey minds, and when we are calmer mentally, we open up the opportunity for insights, reflection and actual thought about our life, where we are now, where we would like to be, who we really are, and what changes we need to make. When we meditate, we are strengthening that connection to our higher selves, the true us. When we make that connection, we get the answers we are searching for.

Retreat

There is wisdom in silence; but, this silence can be uncomfortable, which is why so many of us avoid it at all costs. It can be uncomfortable to be with just us, our thoughts our only company. We like to drown them out through any means necessary. But, if you cannot learn to be alone with just you and your mind, you will never get the answers you seek. You need to spend time alone in quiet places, whether it is just your bedroom sans the radio or television, or a peaceful trail in your local state park. Go somewhere where it is just you, somewhere that you can just be and you will be amazed at the insights and information that comes to you, things that seem so unbelievably simple, you will wonder how you did not realize these things before.

Set Intentions before Sleep

A lot of amazing things happen while we sleep. While there is some debate over what is really happening when we dream, it is clear that we can have some major epiphanies while we sleep. Sure, some dreams are merely helping us process what happened throughout the day, and may have no spiritual or metaphysical significance. But, then there are the dreams that reveal us to ourselves, that provide the solutions to our problems, that give us clues to our path and purpose in life. Setting intentions before you sleep about getting answers to your questions is very powerful. You may not get 100 percent of the information that night, but keep doing it, and you will be amazed at the types of dreams you may be experiencing.
